Description
When the Angostinian hordes sweep across the southern borders of the Highlands, the bandit Jaryk Maisl and his friend, the wizard and bard Owen Odell, find themselves in a land that desperately needs heroes. The invaders show no respect for people or places, stealing and destroying everything in their path. In their wake, a great evil is unleashed as a mad necromancer brings back to semi-life the millennia-dead vampire king. Only Maisl has the courage to stand against the Angostinians and the undead: Soon he is celebrated as a figure from myths, the legendary Lightbringer, who has come to save his people once more. But only one person truly knows Maisl – Odell remembers that the now-famous bandit was once a thief and a rogue who would gladly cut your purse or slit your throat for dinner. As the final battle approaches and a strange apparition appears, Odell wonders which of the two Maisls will prevail – the selfish thief or the savior of his people, the Lightbringer.
