Inspired by the book by Josef Čapek, Povídání o pejskovi a kočičce, Miroslav Graclík and Václav Nekvapil wrote Pejsek a kočička, who wouldn't know the two inseparable friends who have guided millions of children through childhood? The cult book by Josef Čapek has received a sequel after ninety years from the authors Miroslav Graclík and Václav Nekvapil. "The book by Josef Čapek was our starting point and inspiration, especially stylistically. The book has a specific language that is close to children, and we tried to preserve it in its original form. The stories have remained similar; children and their parents will find fun, adventure, and lessons in them. We had to modify and adapt the plots and settings for our modern age, but the message of the fairy tales remains the same," says Václav Nekvapil, one of the authors, about the book project. In addition to new stories, the illustrations are also new. "Today's children are a bit different from those eighty years ago. Nowadays, animated films flood little ones from all sides, often created digitally. We wanted to meet children with a richly illustrated book that captivates with both colors and craftsmanship. We were inspired by Zdeněk Miler and his graphic portrayal of Krteček," he adds.
