Description
The 42nd volume of the popular book series "on old postcards" takes us to a very unconventional place, the former Military Area of Ralsko. The book features 370 postcards from the late 19th century to shortly after the end of World War II, when the original German population was displaced. Few areas have undergone such transformation from the time the postcards were issued to the present as Ralsko. Most villages have permanently disappeared from the surface of the earth, and those that survived have undergone significant changes. After the departure of the Soviet army in 1991, the area is slowly awakening from a "bad dream" and there are attempts at some sort of return to normal life. However, the old times will never return. Let us at least return to them through old postcards, which are one of the last witnesses of how life was here more than 70 years ago. The book includes Czech-German accompanying text.
