Description
The heart of the region is Havlíčkův Brod, whose center, with many monuments, is a city heritage zone. Other attractive destinations include Hašek's Lipnice nad Sázavou and the historic town of Humpolec, known for its famous native, anthropologist Dr. Hrdlička, the fictional immigrant Hliník, and also the excellent beer from the Bernard brewery. The town of glassmakers and stonemasons is Světlá nad Sázavou. The writer, journalist, and revolutionary K. Havlíček Borovský hails from Borová. Near Přibyslav stands Žižka's mound at the site where the famous military leader died in 1424. Since 1997, the ruins of Orlík Castle near Humpolec have been reopened to the public. The world-renowned composer and conductor Gustav Mahler was born in Kaliště, and concerts are held in his birthplace to commemorate him. Among the ecclesiastical monuments, we will also visit the Gothic churches in Loukov, Řečice, and Dolní Město, which feature rare frescoes. The boundaries of the described area are: Píšť - Melechov - Světlá nad Sázavou - Skuhrov - Chotěboř - Ždírec nad Doubravou - Havlíčkova Borová - Nížkov - Janovce - Věžnice - highway D1.
