Literatura - přehled SŠ učiva (2026)

This Czech-language textbook provides a comprehensive overview of literature for secondary-school students. In its third edition, the introductory sections of the individual chapters have been expanded to offer a basic picture of the historical, social and cultural development of each period. The literary section has been updated particularly in chapters 19, 20 and 21, covering Czech and world literature from the end of the Second World War to the present. Each literary period is presented in connection with the social, cultural and political events of its time, while newly added timelines provide a basic chronological overview of key developments. Since literature is an art form, it is also linked to music, architecture and painting, and numerous illustrations help students clarify the topics and view them through examples. The book presents clear, well-rounded information about individual literary periods and can be used alongside four volumes of reading selections and related Czech-language study publications during regular literature lessons, preparation for the school-leaving examination and university entrance examinations. It aims to help students understand literature, its characteristics and its main historical connections.
