Description
This textbook is primarily intended for students and teachers of secondary schools, but it can also be used as supplementary teaching material in language schools, during post-secondary studies, or in preparation for international language exams and entrance exams for universities. The textbook places great emphasis on the practical mastery of basic grammar at a level corresponding to the knowledge required for the maturity exams; in addition, it offers a rich supply of grammatical terminology, which is available at the end of the book in an alphabetically arranged bilingual list. An undeniable advantage of the textbook is the number of examples that clearly demonstrate the theoretical explanations. This textbook is published simultaneously with 'German – a Workbook for Secondary School Grammar.' Both books are designed based on the Catalog of Requirements for the German Language for the new format of the maturity exam approved by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic. The overview and the grammar workbook correspond maximally in content and chronology of the phenomena discussed, but they intentionally do not completely match in everything. For example, the workbook emphasizes those grammatical phenomena that are more difficult for students, at the expense of topics that do not require practice (such as interjections).
