Description
Jaromír Tomeček (1906–1997) was an excellent storyteller and a connoisseur of the forest and untamed streams and rivers. He devoted his main attention to them and also to their free inhabitants, animals, and fish. This collection of prose recalls the early period of the writer's work when he lived in Subcarpathian Ruthenia, then part of Czechoslovakia. In a land of wild beauty, little touched by human hands. Even in his 'Subcarpathian Prose', Jaromír Tomeček presented himself as a surprisingly mature author, and his storytelling brought something new to readers of nature books. That is why both hunters and forest managers, as well as occasional visitors to the woods, loved them. And for today's reader, they also offer a glimpse into a vanished, sometimes mysterious forest.
