Description
The book is a selection of essays from 1990 to 2007 on the themes of the underground, chaos, feminism, and transgender issues. "Society is dominated by a new-old logic of male storytelling that prioritizes the politics of sameness," describes our present by leading Czech feminist Mirek Vodrážka in a representative collection of essays titled Decivilization, mapping his work over the last fifteen years. In sections titled Underground, Chaos, Feminism, and Transgender, he critically assesses the development of Czech, as well as European society, which is unfortunately manifested especially in its impact on so-called minorities. At the same time, the author does not shy away from criticizing the inconsistency of the representatives of these minorities in advocating for their rights. Mirek Vodrážka's book offers a unique perspective on current developments, from a different angle than what we are usually accustomed to in our journalism or essays.
