Description
When Oberon returns to Amber, Dworkin informs him that the Pattern has somehow been magically relocated to the interior of the castle. Further investigation reveals that the original Pattern remains in its original place of creation, and the castle of Amber now possesses its identical copy. However, as it gradually becomes clear, much greater damage has occurred. In a single evening, Oberon discovers that Amber is home to another race – an entire civilization that lives at the bottom of the ocean, in a city that is a mirror image of Amber. He learns that a copy of the Pattern has also appeared in these depths... and the queen of the underwater world knows everything about it and is trying to rid her realm of the Pattern; she has her own plans for Oberon... and also the power to make her wishes come true.
