The nine-part history series of textbooks, along with workbooks for elementary schools and multi-year gymnasiums, has already secured its place in schools. It captures the historical development from prehistory to the end of the 1980s. The unconventional concept presents students with a vivid picture of past ages and evokes their interest in history rather than merely introducing them to the dull realm of dates, names, and events. The authors opted for a readable, brisk, and fictionalized form of text populated with historical figures, lightened by legends and myths. This is significantly contributed to by both the selection of content and its interpretation. One cannot overlook the many attractive and picturesque illustrations by J. Petráček and D. Ježková, maps, timelines, and the original graphic design. The explanatory material is structured into a practical and effective format of double pages that form the content of individual lessons. It is also commendable that the textbooks, in addition to the key events of political history, do not forget about the spiritual culture of society and illustrate it with the realities of everyday life. There is also consideration for the so-called white spots in history textbooks. The basic summary that students should remember is appropriately graphically emphasized on each double page.
