Description
Medicinal plants or herbs, simply known as healing plants, are plants that contain active substances that positively influence the state of the human organism in terms of health. Our ancestors knew this and have used them for healing since ancient times. Each such plant contains some active substance that is used in folk medicine or in pharmacology to produce medicines. Many of them grow in our country, but currently about 300 are used for healing. This practical pocket guide describes a hundred of the most proven ones—both cultivated and gathered in the wild—that are the most popular. Its authors, Associate Professor Ing. Jarmila Neugebauerová and Ing. Věra Žďárská, are experts in the field. They have been dedicated to the issue of medicinal plants at the Horticultural Faculty of Mendel University in Lednice, South Moravia, for many years at a high professional level. Their guide consists of two main sections: 1) a botanical overview, arranged alphabetically, which contains detailed information about selected plants and their illustrations, including the parts used, and 2) a user manual that describes what is used from the plants and how it is processed and utilized for healing. It is supplemented by an overview of health issues and treatment instructions, a glossary of professional terms...
