Description
Libuše Burger's second novel takes us into the lives of different social classes in contemporary Britain. On one side stands a seemingly bored millionaire, while on the other are three young, debt-ridden desperados from the fringes of society, contemplating ending their pointless lives. When the unfortunate souls participate in a mysterious competition organized by the wealthy man, a strange and original game unfolds among the participants. What initially appears to be a cynical pastime ultimately takes a different, more positive turn... The story, written with exaggeration and dark humor, is filled with tension, wit, plenty of surprising twists, but also a very humane subtext and reflections on what is truly important in life and to what extent we can determine our own fate.
