This Czech-language practice and review workbook for eighth-grade students is part of a modern series for Czech language education in upper primary schools and the lower grades of multi-year grammar schools. The series supports communication-based education, the requirements of the national framework education programme, the development of key competences and the expected learning outcomes, while also providing inspiration for creating school education programmes. Each grade has a three-part set covering grammar, literature and communication, and practice and review, supplemented by a teacher’s guide. The language and literary material continually engages students, presenting and practising the subject matter systematically, logically and clearly. The literature and communication section includes engaging reading extracts, for example from works by Karel Čapek, A. C. Doyle, Jan Werich, Leo Rosten and others. All the textbooks are complemented by functional, witty illustrations by Karel Benetka. The teacher’s guides follow the latest requirements of the national framework education programme and also contain answer keys for selected tasks, making them useful aids for teaching Czech language and literature and sources of inspiration for creating school education programmes.
