Description
The book discusses the fantastic and the fantastical in artistic (painterly) works. The theoretical study understands the fantastic as a creation of the spirit, as a way of reflecting objective, social reality. In an ideological sense, it has an aesthetic and magical function in art. The book, in a historical outline, shows examples of the development of fantastic art in the pictorial appendices of the history of art. It examines thematic circles, phenomena, and stages of this imaginative art as well as the motivation behind the artists' creations. It also provides interpretations of paintings from the perspective of psychologists and psychiatrists who specialize in diagnosing artistic expressions (e.g., under the influence of drugs, etc.).
