Description
The memoirs of architect Jan Sokol (May 25, 1904 - September 27, 1987) illuminate the long journey in search of the meaning of life, work, and faith. The choice of architecture defined the space for study and creation; sometimes the times helped, while at other times they posed significant obstacles. The author writes about the past for the present and future in the first part of the book. The second part, My Plans, gathers the architect's work, based on concepts rooted historically, technically, and artistically. However, ideas and plans often could not be realized anywhere but at the work desk. There, even small tasks found weight as symbols, providing a solid support for reality in the search.
