Description
The publication of the diary volume from 1975 to 1989 (expanded with records found in the author's estate from 1980 to 1997) chronologically follows the book Apocalyptic Diary. In Neuwirth's reflections on memory, history, and tradition, which form the basis of the diary volume Entering Europe, we find many common features with contemporary texts by Christian thinkers and church documents. However, what makes Neuwirth's contribution exceptionally valuable is his personal, witness participation in these events, highlighted by a desire to hear God's voice in a world where traditional values are disintegrating, and the need to respond authentically, i.e., truthfully, to these realities. Part of Neuwirth's witness role is a focus on 'events beyond history,' downplaying the phenomenological aspect of current events, yet not resigning from experiencing them.
