The memoirs of a member of one of the significant Czech families of 'bourgeois aristocracy' span from the mid-19th century to the time around Munich. A kaleidoscope of family snippets, portraits of significant personalities, and contemporary events creates a nostalgic image of the disintegration of great history into legends, myths, and sometimes almost anecdotal stories.
