After a serious car accident at the age of 17, she suffered from severe pain for the rest of her life, experienced a fateful relationship with the world-renowned painter Diego Rivera, was, among other things, the mistress of Trotsky, and was enthusiastically welcomed among the surrealists by André Breton. In 2002, the biographical film "Frida" starring Salma Hayek in the title role was released in theaters.
