The literary treatment of the tumultuous life of the Tibetan sage and national hero Milarepa, who lived at the turn of the 11th and 12th centuries, is one of the peaks of Tomáš's literary work. The author draws from a relatively sparse account of Milarepa's biography by his disciple, Lama Räčchung, and with remarkable inventiveness develops it into a compact and impressive novel form. Moreover, he sensitively incorporates his own transcendental experiences and the profound spiritual insights of his wife Míla, as this crucial element of Milarepa's life is absent from Räčchung's manuscript. Tomáš achieved mystical experiences in the same way as Milarepa, with whom he deeply identified. There is nothing unusual about this, as all those who sincerely seek the Truth find it in the same way as others on this path. Milarepa's story unfolds externally in medieval Tibet, but internally it takes place in the soul of every honest seeker, regardless of geographical environment or historical epoch. External circumstances and conditions are not essential, for in Eternity they have no permanence, while inner experiences are the belonging of eternal, unchanging wisdom.
