The author traveled through the Republic of South Africa in 16 days on a route that included the most beautiful national parks and major cities of this exotic country. The book opens with the motto: "It's not hard to travel from the Czech Republic to the world with a travel agency. But it's also not hard to travel the world without a travel agency. It's pleasant and usually cheaper. You just need to know how to do it." As the first in a planned series of books about individual travels across Europe and beyond, South Africa is released. The author, a pediatrician, chose it for its beauty and vibrancy, demonstrating that it is – contrary to the general opinion given by television reports – a safe country with friendly inhabitants. He describes a circuit around the entire RSA, which he traveled in two weeks, and showcases in the text and photographs the most interesting places in national parks full of wildlife as well as major cities like Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town. The book is not just a travelogue or a guide. It is a manual on how to prepare your own itinerary, how to best rent a car in a foreign country, how to shop, find accommodation, and not just in Africa. Many tips, including health-related ones, are general and applicable in other countries as well.
