Children became accustomed to the formal advantages of the textbook as early as the 2nd and 3rd grades. It is attractive to them for several reasons. The textbook is designed as a working tool – the explanations naturally intertwine with creative tasks and practice sections, allowing children to have everything in one place, easily navigate, and work directly with all components. Therefore, the textbook does not require a supplementary workbook, and for easier handling during work, it is divided into two thinner notebooks. The explanations and exercises are based on topics that teach children new things from other areas (Human and His World) or lead them to think and discover new facts (development of key competencies, cross-cutting themes). The exercise texts also include literary excerpts – poems and short prose – that resonate with children's perceptions in the 4th grade. Thus, themes that develop communicative competencies in children are naturally introduced into Czech, while also reinforcing, repeating, and expanding knowledge from the area of Human and His World (At the Crossroads, How People Speak, filling out documents).
