British Formula 1 car designer Adrian Newey takes readers through his fascinating thirty-five-year career in his autobiography, during which he contributed to the design and engineering solutions of the most famous F1 car models. Influenced by his father, he began sketching car designs at the age of twelve, dedicating all his free time to it. Even as a young man, he took a welding course during the summer to pursue his hobby from a practical standpoint. He entered the real world of motorsport as a race engineer in the USA in the IndyCar series, from where his path led to Formula 1. He collaborated with big names in motorsport, such as Mario Andretti, Nigel Mansell, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, Damon Hill, David Coulthard, Mika Häkkinen, Mark Webber, and Sebastian Vettel. As a designer, he adhered to the main principle: to build the fastest car possible. And he succeeded extraordinarily, although his successes are also accompanied by tragedies – primarily the death of Ayrton Senna in 1994 during his time with the Williams team.
