Description
Walking, standing, and sitting are everyday types of movements that we perform unconsciously; sometimes easily, other times with feelings of discomfort and pain. Posture is influenced, among other things, by our mental attitudes. The best way to return to the natural movements of the body in everyday life is to practice meditation, mindfulness, and self-awareness. This is therefore a book about perceiving how we live in terms of working with the musculoskeletal system, breathing, and tuning the mind. It utilizes principles of yoga, but the reader does not need to be an expert or practitioner of this discipline – if you wish to relieve health issues and start feeling better both physically and mentally, everything you need can be found here. Our posture is influenced by our mental attitudes. For example, if we feel unappreciated and full of resentment, we walk hunched over and heavily impact our knees and ankles. If we feel strong and victorious, our chest opens up and fills with pride. If we feel uncomfortable, this space within us closes up, and our shoulders hunch inward. It is worth mentioning that indigenous peoples stand, sit, and move with much less tension than we do, and it does not seem that they need to exert specific effort like we do in Western civilization.
