Description
Petr Uspenskij (also Uspenský), a mathematician and philosopher, was the most famous student of the Russian mystic Georgiy Gurdjieff. This publication presents excerpts from Uspenskij's book In Search of the Miraculous (V poiskach čudesnogo), which was first published in 1949. In it, he analyzes and explains the fundamental ideas of his teacher Gurdjieff. He also describes Gurdjieff's influence and various personal experiences associated with him, naturally adding his own thoughts and ideas. The complexity and intricacy of Gurdjieff's teachings gain clarity in Uspenskij's presentation, offering a coherent view of the universe and humanity. It can be said that Uspenskij writes more easily and understandably; in other words, there are two different styles within the same spiritual philosophy. The book includes an introduction by a Czech translator, who briefly and succinctly introduces the reader to Uspenskij's personality and teachings in the context of significant figures in modern Western spiritual thought and philosophy.
