Description
A missing tennis player, a mysterious villa and one accidental detective: at the end of June 1964, accidental detective Ota Fink, a lathe operator by profession, wanders one evening near the newly filling Hostivař Reservoir, weighed down by sad memories of the misstep that cost him his tramping sweetheart House. There he encounters an almost unbelievable sight when a naked girl emerges from the dark water, looking exactly like tennis star Pavla Šponarová. As always when Ota meets a beautiful woman, he rushes headlong into trouble. He lends her some clothes, and before long he is posing as the fictitious Lieutenant Kleviš while becoming entangled with the highest circles of tennis at a mysterious villa. Doubts pursue him, especially after he makes a strange discovery in the mud by the reservoir. What has the dog belonging to Ota’s friend Vrba dug up? What deadly mysteries does the villa beneath Rosehip Slope conceal? Is something rotten in the world of representative tennis, or is something else, much worse, involved? And what is Pavla Šponarová’s real secret?
