Description
This Czech-language epic fantasy takes place fifteen years after the massacre in the Red Valley. Davir Krís bears the conflicting burdens of an oath to a king who lost the war and loyalty to his own family. His homeland, Rísije, is subjugated by the Targian army, the king is hiding in the mountains, and open battles have given way to negotiations, betrayal and quietly disappearing borders. Meanwhile, Targian princess Tara grows up in comfort at the Karn palace, while chained foreigners pass through the city and force her to question whether the soldiers are defending peace or keeping another nation on its knees. When an attack on the royal family unleashes terror, justice is eclipsed by hatred and new players enter the bloody game: a queen fighting her own secret war, a twisted sorceress banished into the shadows, and a blind weasel-catcher hiding more than he seems to know. The story explores war, guilt and loyalty in a world where heroism often resembles betrayal and one misplaced question can carry more weight than a drawn sword.
