Description
This Czech-language horror novel is set in 1990s Mexico, where experienced sound engineer Montserrat struggles to find work in the film industry, while her best friend Tristán Abascal, a faded telenovela star, is more likely to stumble over a bottle than a new role. When Tristán learns that cult horror director Abel Urueta has moved in next door, he decides to introduce himself. Urueta claims he can change their lives if they help him complete a film he once made with the occultist Wilhelm Ewers. Montserrat does not believe in the supernatural, at least until she and Tristán are pursued by a figure from a mirror and the ghost of a famous actress. To escape, they must unravel the mystery of the cursed film, while Ewers’s followers draw them into a world where bloody rituals and black magic are not confined to the silver screen. The novel features cursed films and Nazi occultists and is written by the author of Mexican Gothic.
