Upgrade 9 - Workbook RVP (2026)

This English-learning workbook for the second stage of primary school and lower years of multi-year grammar schools follows the communicative method and develops all four language skills evenly, at a level slightly above A2. It reflects the revised Czech Framework Educational Programme and uses contemporary language, age-appropriate topics, colourful illustrations, project tips, games and new-media-style videos such as vlogs. The Compass section in each lesson adds interesting information and connects the material with pupils’ lives, other subjects and the world beyond school. The Czech-language workbook contains 56 pages of exercises for improving language skills and reinforcing the textbook material, five review tests with self-assessment, instructions in English and Czech, an answer key, an English-Czech dictionary of vocabulary and phrases from the textbook and workbook, a detailed Czech grammar overview, a table of irregular verbs and QR-code access to audio recordings. Its units cover food, music and plans for the new school year; culture, traditions and fashion; family, friends and school groups; the Czech landscape, nature protection and natural disasters; technology, multimedia and life in the past and today; and sport, wellbeing and healthcare, along with revision of grammar, verb patterns, question tags, relative pronouns, modal verbs, the passive voice and the zero and first conditional.
