Description
It is often said that modern poetry is – unlike poetry written in the past – so closed off within itself that it is slowly losing ordinary readers and becoming the reading material of a handful of initiates, often just the poets themselves. It would be hard to find a more pronounced counterpoint to the mentioned type of poetry than the present verses of Martin Vopěnka: completely understandable, communicative, with a calm rhythm and simplicity – this is their greatest value, because achieving such simplicity is often the most difficult task, just think of Seifert's late works."
