Captain Woodrow Call, former partner of Augustus McCrae, is now a bounty hunter. His task is to track down a brutal young Mexican bandit. The captain travels with a polished eastern city official, a dim-witted deputy sheriff, and Pea Eye Parker, one of the last members of the Hat Creek ranch outfit, who is happily married to Lorena, Gus McCrae’s former lover. The long pursuit takes the group to the last wild corners of the West, to a dirty hole known as Crow Town, and finally to the vast, unforgiving plains of the Texas frontier. This book is published in Czech for the first time, translated by Jana Hlávková.
