It returns to a time when the world faced a pandemic and climate crisis simultaneously, then looks to the future and asks the troubling question of how it will all end. It is also about living under the constant threat of catastrophe, whether from a mad person with a nuclear button or the slow collapse of the environment. Our obsession with doomsday is ultimately about change: our fear of it, our desire for it and the hope we may eventually find in it.
