This Czech-language nonfiction book offers an unusual perspective on the nearly one hundred paratroopers sent from Great Britain into Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia between 1941 and 1945. In accordance with the aims of the Czechoslovak government-in-exile, they carried out important intelligence, communications, sabotage and combat missions. These volunteers were the elite of the country’s foreign forces, and their presence in the occupied country was a major contribution to the domestic resistance, although every second one paid for his courage with his life. The book presents a declassified summary report evaluating Czechoslovak-British intelligence cooperation shortly after the war, written by three officers of the Special Operations Executive, the British secret service that played a major role in preparing the Czechoslovak and other paratroopers. It also publishes, for the first time, an overview of Allied assistance to the Czechoslovak resistance during the final months of the war.
