Description
Respected public official Óttar Karlsson is missing from his birthday celebration, and shortly thereafter, his dead body is found. The police are at a loss regarding the perpetrator and the motive. The first clue is uncovered by young police officer Sigurdís, who finds a well-hidden safe in the victim's luxury apartment. Óttar's dubious dealings begin to come to light, and subsequently, a second, completely unexpected line of inquiry must be followed - a phone number to the USA along with documents about regular money transfers to a certain American account. The lead to Minnesota revives deep trauma from Sigurdís's own childhood, making the investigation of the case frighteningly personal for her. Sweet Death is a grim and unsettling detective story with unexpected twists, revealing the world of financial crime and terrifying religious cults.
