You have undoubtedly heard of the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and you may have even seen many of the sites with your own eyes. However, did you know that since 2003 there has also been a list of intangible cultural heritage of humanity? It records and supports extraordinary forms of human activity that are reflected in the world differently than as tangible monuments: unique forms of language, customs, rituals and celebrations, unique performing arts, skills associated with traditional crafts, or knowledge about nature and the universe. More than 700 intangible heritage sites from around the world have already been included on the list – there are over 200 in Europe, with 10 directly in the Czech Republic.
