The unique story of the Czech baseball team, which won the hearts of Japan at the World Baseball Classic ***** This team is extraordinary, even with a reminder of the immensely rich history of Czech sports. The men's baseball team is made up of firefighters, teachers, financial analysts, and field managers. The rest of the world sees them as so-called amateurs, but they do not use this term, as they see themselves as professionals. They do not earn a living from baseball, but they are professionals in their passion for the game, tireless effort, and relentless drive to go further and further along the path of baseball. In the fall of 2022, they sensationally qualified for the grand World Baseball Classic tournament, the only clash of national teams featuring players from the American professional league MLB and top Japanese baseball players from the renowned NPB league. Coach Pavel Chadim's team played all their matches in March 2023 at the famous Tokyo Dome, and thanks to their victory over China, they secured qualification for the next tournament in three years. Japan, which has been in love with baseball for over 150 years, welcomed the brave Czechs into its hearts.
