Description

Treasure Island (Bilingual Czech-English Reading) retold in modern language for beginner and intermediate English learners. Stevenson wrote Treasure Island after seeing his nephew painting a watercolor map of the island. He began naming the islands until he eventually wrote 'Treasure Island' in the top right corner of the page. After a long illness, Stevenson died in 1894 on the island of Upolu in the South Pacific, where he had lived until then. Do you think he found his treasure on that island? Bilingual (mirror) books are suitable study supplements for foreign language learning. The texts in the original language are accompanied by a mirror Czech translation (located on the left side of the book). Most of the offered bilingual books are intended for intermediate students. The main character, young Jim Hawkins, discovers that the man who died in his mother's inn is the old buccaneer Bill Bones, who stole a map of an unnamed island from his former companions, where the treasure of the famous pirate captain Flint is buried. Jim finds the map among the dead man's belongings and shows it to squire Trelawney and doctor (and also conciliatory judge) Livesey. Both men then organize a sea expedition on the ship Hispaniola to find the treasure.
