Description
Medicine in the Czech Republic is of a high standard and the healthcare system functions well, yet poor relationships and insufficient communication between patients and doctors remain major problems. Patients may feel that medical staff speak to them carelessly and without enough sensitivity, while doctors are under pressure, overworked and often lack the time or energy for an empathetic conversation, especially when a patient behaves aggressively or tests the limits of their patience. In interviews with journalist Ivana Karásková, ten respected doctors from different specialisations discuss the patient–doctor relationship and other topics in medical ethics. These distinguished professionals share an interest in medical ethics and extensive experience, which they convey with wisdom and kind humour. The contents are in Czech.
