Description
With five dollars in her pocket and a backpack on her back, fifteen-year-old Harleen Quinzel sets off for the city of Gotham. She isn't afraid – having faced many tough situations as a child, she knows that with her stubbornness and sharp tongue, she can easily navigate life even in the most dangerous city in the world. And when the kindest queen of the drag cabaret, Mamá, takes her under her wing, and she meets her new best friend, Ivy, at Gotham High School, it seems Harley has finally found a place where she can grow and become herself. But then Mamá's cabaret falls victim to a wave of ruthless development that threatens to wipe out the entire neighborhood, and Harley gets angry. She has two options to channel her rage into action: she can join activist Ivy and lead a campaign for a better quality of life in the neighborhood, or she can team up with the mysterious anarchist Joker, who plans to take down one Gotham corporation after another. - Eisner Award winner and Caldecott Medalist, author Mariko Tamaki (This One Summer), and Eisner-nominated artist Steve Pugh present a coming-of-age story about choices and their consequences, and how a slightly eccentric girl in Gotham tries to discover her own definition of the world.
