Mark Přibil's publication Illusions of Constructions (Máchas Literary Notebooks) examines the validity of the facts that gave rise to hypotheses about these sources, thus clarifying the immediate context of Mácha's Notebook and its position within the collection of Mácha's documents. The author reviews speculations that arose from Mácha's manuscripts, which were considered fragments of a larger whole, as well as relying on foreign fragmentary descriptions, on Mácha's references found in his manuscripts, and finally on foreign testimonies. The present work thus creates a basis for further interpretation of the preserved literary notebooks of K. H. Mácha and simultaneously corrects any further editorial approach to Mácha's notebooks and texts of a notebook character. The book is divided into four relatively autonomous chapters. The first deals with the manuscript previously referred to as the Outline of Máje, which is now considered a fragment of the Small Notebook. The second chapter examines a related problem from a different perspective: it addresses the so-called Villani Notebook, Mácha's autograph allegedly destroyed around 1945.
