Kondice a kognice – Musilová Martina (2025)

This collective monograph explores its subject through two intersecting areas: cognitive approaches in the humanities, including linguistics, education and theatre studies, and the central theme of condition and its development in the educational process, both in general education and in acting education and psychosomatic disciplines. Condition is examined as an essential psychosomatic aspect of human existence. The researchers focus on play, creativity, freedom, artistic creation, its reception and pedagogy, while also developing new perspectives on the psychosomatic discipline Dialogical Acting with the Inner Partner by Professor Ivan Vyskočil. The book is one of the first attempts to map cognitive research in the humanities in the Czech context, with an emphasis on dramatic culture. Its chapters address the historical context of cognitive science; the mutual inspiration between cognitive-cultural linguistics and dialogical acting; the conceptualisation of joy in Czech and in the work of Ivan Vyskočil; meaning-making and perception as a multilayered process in the analysis of a theatre performance; the cultivation of performers’, spectators’ and authors’ attention; dialogical writing and the use of dialogical acting in scriptwriting; a pedagogical experiment connected with dialogical acting; condition in secondary education; the endogenous neural network and its possible applications in cognitive theatre studies; the origins of introspection and the co-evolution of nature and culture; and the promise of new growth.
