This Czech-language book presents the life and teachings of Elisabeth Haich through the recollections of Raffael Boriés, who met her as a young man in Zurich, became her student and remained so until her death in 1994. Haich was known to millions through her worldwide bestseller Initiation, which has been translated into many languages, and her teachings, developed with her yoga partner Selvarajan Yesudian, still influence numerous yoga schools. Only insiders in her Zurich circle knew that she regularly held spiritual sessions for small groups, known as “Esoteric Hours,” similar to those of Rudolf Steiner. Until now, none of this material had been published. Based on original manuscripts and notes from lecture evenings at the yoga centre in Zurich, this unique document captures Elisabeth Haich’s spoken words and offers a new perspective on her life and teachings. Known as the “grand dame of yoga” in German-speaking countries, Haich made her famous yoga school in Ticino a centre for spiritual seekers from around the world. After the publication of Initiation brought her immense popularity, she partially withdrew from public life; in July 1994, she returned to the world about which she was able to offer vivid testimony.
