AERO 131 Trenér na vojně - Zlín C-5/105/205/305 Trenér v čs. letectvu – Irra Miroslav (2026)

The Ministry of National Defence probably issued a competition in the first months of 1946 for the development and production of a basic trainer aircraft of domestic design to replace the German aircraft then in use. The brief called for a two-seat aircraft with tandem seating, capable of full aerobatics even at maximum take-off weight, with both cockpits fully equipped, including instruments, and with dual controls, including flap controls, in both cockpits. Hydraulic landing-gear brakes, cockpit lighting, position lights and other equipment were also required. The aircraft had to be simple to manufacture and suitable for easy series production. Its engine was the Walter Minor 4-III, made by the Prague-based Walter company, with an output of 77 kW/105 HP. The aircraft was expected to reach a maximum speed of 200 km/h, a cruising speed of 180 km/h and an altitude of 3,500 metres, climbing to 2,000 metres in 13 minutes. This book describes the development, comparison with competing types, introduction into service and use in the Czechoslovak military air force of one of the most famous postwar aircraft at home and abroad. Its aerobatic versions enabled Czechoslovak pilots to win numerous titles in international competitions, including the world aerobatic championship.
