Description
The MiG-23MF was an export version of the MiG-23M, which was supplied to the Soviet air force, while the MF version was intended for Warsaw Pact countries. It was a light front-line fighter designed to gain air superiority over the battlefield and to intercept aircraft in air-defence missions, while also being capable of attacking ground targets. The MiG-23M was the first Soviet fighter capable of attacking air targets beyond visual range and against a ground background in all weather conditions. According to many experts, it was superior to the Phantom II in all performance parameters and in weapons effectiveness, although this remains open to debate. These aircraft entered service with Czechoslovakia’s air force in 1978. The book describes the aircraft, its armament, the retraining of Czechoslovak pilots and the service of these machines until their retirement. It contains 360 mostly colour photographs, including detail views, 21 pages of drawings and colour profiles. The contents are in Czech.
