Description
During the fifty-year existence of the regiment, many aviators and technicians of all possible professions, as well as members of other services necessary for the operation of the air unit, have passed through its ranks, their number estimated at least in the thousands. It is certainly logical that at the forefront will be those who led the regiment, its commanders. In this highly responsible and demanding role, a total of 18 pilot officers have served over the 50 years, whose fates were not always simple and straightforward. Some, starting with the first commander František Fajtl, became victims of politically motivated persecution depending on the current situation of the time, while others achieved general ranks during active military service and the corresponding positions.
