Description
Readers are presented with a publication that attempts to capture in photographs the military trucks used by the Czechoslovak interwar armed forces. The introductory text briefly outlines the development of motorized troops, to which trucks were an inseparable part. There are also mentions of the motorization of artillery, aviation, as well as rapid divisions and their motorized brigades, units that had a larger number of trucks. Everything is supplemented with clear tables that provide an overview of the organization and size of individual units. The publication also addresses the period of the Protectorate, when a number of trucks with roots in the First Republic were produced for the Germans and their allies. The second part consists of photographs showcasing most of the main types of cargo and towing vehicles and their deployment from the era of the Republic. A challenge in researching the appearance of motorized troops and acquiring trucks for the army is often the absence of key archival sources, such as materials related to individual automotive battalions or the purchases of certain types of vehicles.
