Description
The jet fighter of the Soviet design bureau Mikoyan-Gurevich, MiG-19, is undoubtedly a significant entity in the history of Czechoslovak and Czech aviation, even though it ranks third in the number of delivered aircraft among jet fighters of the Czechoslovak Air Force, behind the unchallenged most numerous 'fifteen' and the second in line 'twenty-one'. Its significance lies primarily in the fact that with its introduction into service, former Czechoslovakia stepped into the proverbial club of countries whose military aviation owns and operates supersonic jet aircraft. The MiG-19 was very popular among our pilots, among other things, for its excellent climb rate, and although its service was shorter compared to its successor, the MiG-21, it certainly deserves to be remembered.
