Description
In 1937, the military administration approached Czechoslovak car manufacturers with specifications for the development of special personal off-road vehicles with 4x4 drive. The story of the first SUVs in the territory of our then-state began to be written. Two smaller car manufacturers responded positively to the military challenge: Czechoslovak Zbrojovka and the Jawa factory, already a well-known motorcycle manufacturer at the time. The aforementioned car manufacturers were joined by the already experienced manufacturer of both passenger and commercial vehicles, Ringhoffer-Tatra Works from Kopřivnice. Based on the developments in the mentioned car manufacturers, three prototypes of off-road vehicles were produced, which, due to the different approaches of the manufacturers, resulted in exceptionally interesting design concepts. The promising design of the prototypes was cut short by the demise of Czechoslovakia and the subsequent war conflict unleashed in Europe by Nazi Germany.
