Description
Finland entered into conflict with the Soviet Union in the so-called Winter War from 1939 to 1940 and subsequently, after the Soviet Union was attacked by Germany from 1941 to 1944 in the so-called Continuation War. During the Winter War, the Finnish Air Force acquired aircraft technology mainly from Britain, France, and the USA, as Germany was not interested in worsening its otherwise very good relations with the Soviet Union at that time. After the attack on the USSR by Germany, the situation understandably changed. Germany began supplying aircraft technology to its ally. Initially, this involved captured planes, particularly from defeated France. Later, as the situation for the Germans on the Soviet front began to deteriorate, the Germans entered into an agreement for the supply of modern aircraft technology. The pictorial publication by a Finnish author documents all the German aircraft used and describes their deployment, including their use against Germany at the end of the war when Finland became an ally of the USSR.
