AEROmodel 9 - Avia S/CS-92 (2020)

It contains a cut-out paper model in 1:48 scale of the Czechoslovak fighter and training versions of the Messerschmitt Me 262 jet aircraft, known in our country as Avia S-92 - the fighter version and Avia CS-92 - the training version. One of the many problems that the Czechoslovak military aviation had to address in the process of its recovery after 1945 was the question of its armament. Given the experiences of the recently concluded war, it was clear to the command of the Czechoslovak Air Force that the propeller-driven aircraft previously used as combat aircraft had seen their day, and the only promising option was a jet-powered aircraft. However, in 1945, there was no choice but to start from what was available within the territory of the republic. During the war, the Protectorate's aviation industry, and thus Czech technicians and workers, participated in the production of the German jet fighter Messerschmitt Me 262, the first operational jet aircraft in the world. Therefore, it was decided to manufacture it for our air force. The production of the Avia S-92 and CS-92 allowed for the training of the first pilots on a jet aircraft and bridged the period until the arrival of the MiG-15.
