Description
This Czech-language book examines notable relationships between religious elements and the population genetics of certain groups in Asia, the Americas and Europe. Although these ethnic groups are now geographically distant, it traces presumed connections at both genetic and cultural levels. Such ancient ties appear fairly plausible among the indigenous peoples of Siberia and North America, and less pronounced but still discernible toward Europe. The book follows these traces through similar views of sacred places, shamanistic practices and the complex of bear worship. These cultural elements have survived across vast territories among groups whose languages are mutually unintelligible but whose genetic relationship is relatively close. What does this mean? Are we perhaps Siberians, or even Native Americans?
